This post could also be titled Day Off, Part 2. The Afternoon. I know, the writing around here is just incredible. Refreshed from all our pool fun, we loaded up into vehicles to head into the nearby metropolis of Salida. On the way out, I snapped a picture of (part of) one of my favorite families. Love that snow coming down.

By the time we rolled into town, some other people were ready to get their picture taken, apparently. They were moving as fast as I could click that button.

And finally, the money shot:

Both of them are number three in their family. Just like this one. And the one in the first picture, too. Nothing but trouble…
We started walking around the great little downtown area. The faded streets kept showing their surprising colors under the winter grey skies.

I fell a little bit in love with it.

I think we all would have stayed for hours, had we not also been interested in finding something to eat – a task which sadly, we could not complete in downtown Salida. The pizza place that looked soooo good was filled with high school students and just about every other place we passed had a handwritten sign in the window that said something to the effect of Closed For Skiing. Fresh Powder. Only An Idiot Would Be In Town On A Day Like This. Those people are dedicated to their winter sports, I tell you.
So after one last long look around, we headed to the outskirts of town for lunch. Next time, Salida, I’ll spend the afternoon.

enough. you KNOW i wasn’t there. is there a reason for the torture? have i angered you somehow?????
I just want to make SURE it NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. This is two years in a row for you missing the skiing, Millie…
