trippin’ out

What is it about a vacation that makes me think I need to stockpile enough snacks to last until June?

I really don’t buy that many packaged snacks.  Because I’m cheap like that.  But give me an overnight car ride and suddenly I’m crazy for the chip aisle.

And digging in my pantry for treats we’ve saved.  Those gingersnaps are my favorite thing in the whole world.  Except for maybe those dark chocolate almonds.  Peeking out from behind the fruit strips are real cane sugar Dr. Peppers from the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas.  The boys have been waiting…and waiting…

Of course, not all the treats are store bought.  She was in charge of granola, I was in charge of energy bars.  We both made cookies.  Lots and lots of cookies.

The up side is, it’s the one week of the year where I’m actually burning enough calories to eat all this and maybe come out even.  Cookies for breakfast, anyone?

:) you are as bad as me. I have a tupperware, oh yes LARGE (takes up 1/2 the suburban), and it has everything for the road, complete with two tackle boxes with our toiletries (to go) snacks, drinks, change of clothes (for all 5) towels, blanket, trashbags, wet gear, (including the boots and poncho’s), and Laundry soap & $ for a laundry mat. As much as we travel with soccer I only have to pack a few things (1 bag for all 5) and I’m out the door. I’m with you, I LOVE THE SNACK ISLE! You can never have too much, and when you’re exerting all that energy you need some calories to replace those burnt ones.
